Despite the question whether our Christmas customs are biblical or not (here you can learn and decide) we are in the time of Advent again.
In this time before Christmas we remember the first coming of our Lord. At least we should! Almost everybody is busy with preparations, invitations and, of course with shopping - buying presents for all the family, relatives and friends.
Some years ago they made a poll. I donīt know whether it was in Cologne or in Hamburg but that is not important. A reporter interviewed people passing by. He asked several people what they knew about Christmas.
The sad thing what I remember is that most people hadnīt got a clue about Jesus and what his appearence ment for all of us.

Why do we celebrate Christmas? Ask around, and you'll get a variety of responses: It's all about the children, about tradition, about the decorations, about the family, or about the food. Many people celebrate Christmas because of the gifts: giving them and getting them. Of course, several people say Christmas is all about Santa Claus
.

Instead of being busy this time we should slow down a bit and consider the very r o o t s and the reason of Christmas. And, more important: we should think about what our Lord promised: He will come again, and because we are living in the end times He will came back very soon.
His first coming into this world was as a baby, but His second coming will be as a judge with a sword riding a horse.
